Little Tidbits to Share

Hello, and welcome to my writing page. Here, I share a little about myself and a little bit about my stories.

I’m so glad you’ve stopped by, and I can’t wait to share my writing journey with you. It has been a twenty-year trek, yet well worth the time. I have attracted the attention of an agent with my novel Ocean-to-Ocean (a working title at this point.). Of course, getting an agent to read a few pages of your work doesn’t mean it will be published; still, it’s a step forward.

Ocean-to-Ocean is inspired by the once-famous race car driver named Frank Kulick. He drove one of the newly invented Model T Fords from New York to Seattle in the first transcontinental automobile race. While Frank traveled across the country on roadless terrain, he battled the haunting memory of a horrific car accident that left his leg injured and shattered his confidence.

I’ve worked on this piece since 2009 when a film clip of the original 1909 car race was aired on a local TV program celebrating the hundredth anniversary of the race. It was promoting a reenactment that would take place that summer. The broadcast presented the original event as a David v. Goliath match where Goliath, Henry Ford, cheated to win.

I like underdog stories, and that’s the way I approached the novel. Five automobiles set out on the race. Each driver’s character, filled with grit and determination, promised to be engrossing. Yet three years into the first draft, a deeper story struck me—Frank’s story. I scrapped the first draft and started over.

Have you put in years of work into something and suddenly decided you have a better idea? Find my Instagram below to share. I’d love to hear about it.

Until we meet again,
